Emotion is a large part of life. Frankly, emotions are life! They are the way we perceive all things. We live our lives and it reflects back to us, that reflection is emotion. “We don’t see things as they are, we see things as we are.” -Marco Alvarado. This very intriguing statement provides many layers to think about! If what we see reflects us, what information does that give?
Well, let’s break it down.…
What are moods?
Our moods can change frequently, right? In just one day we can have multiple moods. Have you ever felt emotion or change in mood and truly sat into that feeling? No resistance, no thinking, just acceptance. In my life, the more I allow myself to experience an emotion/feeling/mood/thought, the easier it flows through me.
Pressure is what we tend to put on ourselves when we feel uncomfortable. Releasing the pressure to be or do something can open many possibilities. If we just gave ourselves a chance to feel what we run from, we could stop running.
Awareness is the key to understanding emotions
We start growing when we tune into accepting what we feel. Without acknowledging what’s holding us back, we can never soar.
Judgment is a perception. Perception is a reflection. So, we can think about what we reflect. Is encouragement, love, and compassion flowing off our lips when we are in joy or when we are down? Are spite, anger, and resentment spewing off our tongues when we are sad or happy? These are components to be aware of. Emotions are natural and so is acting upon them. Learning to control when we act is a virtue. Learning how to change the direction of the thought pattern is a necessity. Exploring the roots of our feelings is so important because if not, how can we become knowledgeable to heal them?
Analyzing ourselves is not reliving the past, it’s learning from it
Awareness of our triggers, emotions, and reactions can help start to resolve tensions. Reminding ourselves that we are breathing in, and we are breathing out helps ground us instantly. When we realize that we live most of our lives above ground in our head, true gratitude can take over, helping us to lead a life of balance and joy.
A beautiful part of the human experience is emotion. To feel is a blessing. Navigating feelings is a learning process that is so unique to the individual. The most important thing to know is we are light that balances shadow.
